Blackwood 2017 Entry

Hello All SAOGA Members,

Our sixth game of the 2017 season will be held at Blackwood Golf Club, Cherry Gardens Road on Sunday 16th July 2017. Tee off time is from 08:10 am.

Note that for Blackwood, we are required to pay green fees before tee off. Hence to confirm your entry you must include details of Direct Debit on the entry form (no pay on day).

Note: If you are unable to play due to unforeseen circumstances after entering, please contact either James (0414 844 796) or Mike (0418 800 505) by Saturday 15th latest or you will lose your entry money.

As a reminder, 2017 club fees of $75 are now due. Please ensure prompt payment to maintain financial status and keep your golf link number valid etc!

2016/2017 Summer Match Play Competition

Following the success of the last two Match Play competitions, entries are now open for the 2016/17 Summer Match Play Competition, running from November 2016 – March 2017. Entry fees for the Summer Match Play Competition are $20 per person, with the winner taking home a substantial prize pot (prizes also go to 2 nd – 4 th place)

Some notes on the competition format:

  • The names of players entering the competition will go into a hat with names drawn at random to determine the initial match play pairings and overall field split. There will be no seeding of players.
  • Once the draw is announced, a matched pair of golfers need to arrange a game at a mutually convenient course and time before the end of the calendar month.
  • The green fees and any other costs for the game will be for the players own account.
  • Game format is individual match play as defined by the Rules of Golf. Each players’ Daily Handicap is to be used to calculate the handicap differential (see example below).
  • Winner of the match play game is to notify Mike Willis as to the result by email / scan of completed score cards to the address below.
  • If a match is halved after 18 holes and it is practical to continue playing, the next winning hole decides the match result.
  • If a match is halved and it is not practical to play on, the winner is decided by the winner of the index 1 hole during play, and if that was halved, then followed by index 2 hole winner etc until a winner is declared.
  • Results will be posted on the SAOGA website and monthly winners will be contacted to organise their next monthly games.
  • If matched players cannot agree on a date and venue for their match during a calendar month, they must book and play a game at The Patawalonga (neutral public access course) on the last weekend of the month. A no-show by either player will constitute loss of match.

Match Play Example:

  • Player A has a course daily handicap of 21, Player B has a course daily handicap of 11. The handicap differential is therefore 10.
  • Player A gets an extra shot over Player B on hole index 1 to 10.

Note: some courses have different hole ranking for match play games (or even a different printed card). Please use match play ratings where applicable!

November Golf Social

We are planning a social golf afternoon at Tea Tree Gully Golf Club on Sunday 27th November 2016. Tee off time is from 12:00 p.m. As a social comp, there are no 1st – 3rd prizes awarded for this event. However, there will be nearest-the- pin balls awarded. Some of you may also elect to complete your November game in the 2016/17 Match Play competition if this suits – please complete the entry form to reflect your pairings if doing this.

For this game, the fees are $60 per player (payable on the day at TTGGC) which includes a “sandwich and a pint” lunch voucher as part of a Tea Tree Gully special offer.
